It rained cats and dogs today and the best photo opportunity was afforded from under the shade of the patio, macro lens and a peek at the lillac bush whilst trying not to get the camera wet.
Not easy to focus on raindrops or to capture them before they smeared. But when you do,they look like shiny little diamonds!
Tripping into the City today for a "Mother's Choice" day out which included a trip to Anthropologie for a few new duds, a visit to B&H to scope out camera bags and capped of by a delicious dinner at David Burke Fishtail. Rather a bang up Mother's Day by all accounts.
And in case you thought I'd forgottten to take my camera ..... Here are a few of todays pix ...
Union Square and the protesters still engaged over there, Madame Chrysler in her nocturnal glory and a little Louis Vuitton display that lit the night up so brilliantly!
I hope all the other Mums out there had an equally enjoyable day!

Not sure what it takes to bust the PG-13 rating on the Blog and I am not that keen to know - and nor is that my intent. However, artfully described nudes have been around for centuries and I am sure I am not the first person to "show and tell" without offering offense. And rest assured, none is intended.
"Helena" was a lovely model. A dancer with very expressive hands, which more than anything captured my eye.
It will be a while before I figure out what to do with the 900 plus RAW images that I shot of her. Some several hundred have already been assigned to the "trash" bin, but she was very captivating and I have lots more pictures that I will be working on - inbetween laundry, gardening, online class stuff.... and whatever.
You know how it goes!! Anyway, this the beginning of the 'creative' interpretations!

And this, a little Hell's Kitchen Flea Market gem.
I overheard the stall holder say that she wished she a had a dollar for every photo that was taken and objects not sold. So I fished 4 quarters out of my purse and slapped them in her her hand. She was pretty ornery and I was not about to tick her off further!!
Today I took a leap of faith and bundled a whole lot of courage into my camera bag and headed off to my first ever "NUDE" model shoot. To say that I was vested with a whole lot of trepidation would be rather an understatement and I am glad to report, my fears were for naught.
The "shoot" was very professional, the model most lovely and compliant and since I've spent many years peeking at naked bodies in various forms in my prior professional life, that part of it was not an issue.
We had two hours to take pictures, and I think I shot well over 800 raw images during that time. Obviously lots of them will go in the trash folder, but I'm surprised at how many are worth keeping.
Shooting with studio lights. posing and learning how the group worked, it was all very interesing. Sadly for PG rating reasons I can't really share too many of the pics I took with you on the blog. Rest assured they are very much in the "fine art" realm and do wonderful justice to the female form!!
Amazing what a little prompting and a leap of faith can do!
I've been working on the last few lessons for my Paint, Sketch, Play class. Struggling with a few techincal issues as I shuggle along my old PC - which is grumbling at all the RAM intensive work it's having to do and although I work almost exclusively on Mac's now, unless I want to switch to video editing with FInal Cut Pro, PC's still have much more user friendly software for that sort of job.
So hop from one computer to another I will, until the job is done.

Just the sort of thing that people do??? ... pull the camera and tripod out at 12:30 am and start taking pictures of eggs on the kitchen cook-top - which by the way makes for uber fab reflections!
What can I say? - I'm not that normal (and I daresay both my parents will vouch for that!) but my enthusiam for my camera, and taking pictures is rather all consuming these days. So I figure I will just go with the flow....and snap while I can. I can nap when I am 80!
